Meet Beth: One of Ripple’s talented Graphic Designers

At Ripple, every project is a new opportunity to push creative boundaries—and Beth, one of our talented Graphic Designer, is at the heart of it all. From crafting eye-catching brochures to designing standout social media campaigns, Beth’s work brings fresh, dynamic visuals to life. But her journey into the world of design is just as inspiring as the projects she tackles daily. In this blog, Beth shares how she found her passion for graphic design, the lessons she’s learned along the way, and how her role at Ripple continues to shape her creative journey.
- Could you introduce yourself and tell us about your role with Ripple?
Hey! I’m Beth and I’m a Graphic Designer (fuelled by a lot of caffeine) here at Ripple. I work with the team on various different projects to create unique and creative designs. This could be anything from printed brochures to a digital social media campaign, no one day is the same and no one project is the same! - What inspired you to pursue graphic design, and how did you end up getting your placement at Ripple?
I’ve always been a creative person; in school I was always painting and doodling. I actually really did not want to study graphic design because my sister, brother and cousin all did, but after completing my first semester at university I realised that just because everyone else was a graphic designer didn’t mean that I couldn’t be! In January 2023, I had literally just come back from my semester studying abroad in Barcelona (to lovely cold Northern Ireland) and I started looking online for advertised placements and different design agencies in Northern Ireland. I then reached out to Ripple, had an interview & the rest is history!
- How has your design style or approach evolved since you started in Ripple?
It has evolved a lot! Firstly, it’s very different working on a creative brief in university and working with clients, so that was initially an adjustment for me. I soon realised after my placement, in my final year of university that I am very much more of a typography nerd and even the smallest misalignment seems major. I also really value working collaboratively and getting a range of different opinions from other creatives.
- Could you share some of the key responsibilities or tasks that you complete in your current position?
From project to project the responsibilities and tasks vary, but often I will work from a brief and create designs and creative solutions across lots of different mediums: brochures, billboards, stationary, packaging and social media assets to name a few. The scope really depends on the client’s needs, but often it involves problem solving, ideation, creation and feedback.
- How has Ripple supported your professional growth and development?
Ripple helped me so much and really set me up for my final year of university! I quickly realised at the start of final year was that I was really confident in speaking with printing companies about different design specs and it was because of my experience at Ripple! Now I work here full time and every day you learn something new whether it’s an InDesign shortcut or an effect in photoshop!
- Can you highlight any notable achievements or milestones from your career that you’re particularly proud of?
I was absolutely buzzing when I got my first-class honours degree in Graphic Design on the same day that I got awarded my International Society of Typographic Designers membership!
- If someone were interested in pursuing a career in Graphic Design, what advice would you offer them?
I would say just go with it and give it your everything! With design anything is possible and it is full of endless opportunities. Design changes the way you think and observe the world, so just be prepared to have your eyes opened!
- If you could design anything in the world, with no limits, what would it be?
I would love to design a coffee shop and coffee roastery. I’m very into my coffees and it would honestly be a dream to work on everything coffee related! *As long as it involves and in-depth coffee tasting!*
- Can you share a fun or interesting fact about yourself that others might not know?
I was almost (nearly) a pro ballet dancer. But actually, not at all! The back story is: I started ballet lessons when I was around 5 and I loved ballet so much that I never wanted to take my ballet shoes off. Basically, my mum gave me an ultimatum to either take the shoes off or she would stop my ballet lessons. I didn’t take the shoes off. Never did ballet again. The teacher said I was a natural and could’ve been in competitions and everything & so my ballet career was over & I’m still wearing the shoes (joking).
- Looking ahead, how do you see your role evolving, and what are your long-term goals?
I believe that you should never stop learning, so that’s what I plan to do! Long-term I would love to learn more about motion graphics & really hone in my animation/video editing skills. I’m always keen to learn as much as possible, so where that leads me, I’ll go!
Beth’s story is a testament to the power of passion, perseverance, and a good cup of coffee. From her early days of doodling in school to earning a first-class honours degree and becoming an integral part of the Ripple team, her journey shows how embracing creativity can open endless doors. As she continues to evolve her skills and dive into new design challenges, there’s no doubt Beth’s work will keep inspiring both her colleagues and clients alike. We’re excited to see where her creativity takes her next—and we’re sure it’ll be nothing short of extraordinary.
