From Classroom to Office: My Work Experience at Ripple

Hi my name is Sarah Wylie and I am 16 years old. Currently I am doing my A levels at Holy Trinity College Cookstown and I am studying Business, ICT and sports studies. My favourite subject in school is business. I like learning all the different features of a business and what they can do to make a business unique from others. I love to take part in sports. I have been swimming with a competitive team for over 6 years and I really enjoy it.
My Time at Ripple
I chose to come to Ripple because I knew I wanted to work in an office environment and learn something about business and computers. My aunty does work in Ripple and when I knew more about what she does and the team she worked with I was really interested and wanted to try something new. Ripple has a good team with a variety of different skills and abilities which all have some similarities to what I want to do in the future so I knew it was right for me.
Ripple was a fun and new experience for me, I really enjoyed getting to know the staff and seeing what they get to do. I got to sit with everyone individually and see them working and they showed me some of their old projects as well. I gathered a lot of information on what they do, how they did it and what they could have done to their projects. I have also learned that there is more to social media posts and postings on websites, there is a lot of thinking, planning and preparations that is required for each project. I got to try out new things and get a better understanding on projects and what businesses really have to do in order to be successful. From my time at Ripple, I was able to see all the creative ideas and thinking everyone has to put in and the lengths they go to ensure that their clients are getting the best possible service.
I learned a lot during my time at Ripple. I got to experience a busy office environment, see what exactly each person brings to their work and the systems they use to make each project to a really high standard. I learned that being a team player is very important when working with a team and this is because they need good, clear communication to ensure their work is at high standard and they can provide the best service for their clients.
I have really enjoyed my time at Ripple, coming into here at the start I was unsure on what to expect as I wasn’t sure what I want to do or what I am really interested in but after my visit here at Ripple it has really changed my mind and has inspired me into possibly pursuing a career in marketing. The team at Ripple has a nice hard-working atmosphere and it was really interesting to see a busy but fun working lifestyle. There are so many job opportunities and options available in this industry and there are a lot of really interesting areas which I will definitely do some more research on in the near future.
I would 100% recommend other students to come to Ripple for their work experience. You get to talk with the team and get to see exactly how they do their work. All of the staff here are very welcoming and friendly which has really helped me enjoy my experience here. Ripple has a small team and everyone works together as one. There is a whole variety of work and skills within this business and getting to learn about it all is really exciting and fun to learn. Here in Ripple, you will get to experience some of the different aspects and opportunities which is really helpful if you are still unsure on what you want to do in the future. There is plenty to do at Ripple and they always have something for you to do and trying it out would be really beneficial for anyone thinking of going into a career in business, marketing or design.
